A contractor’s licence in Nevada is issued by the state, not by the city. Las Vegas is where most of the valley’s companies keep an address, so a job here tends to draw the deepest field — but the same licence lets a Henderson or North Las Vegas company bid it, and the page you are reading does nothing to stop them.
That is the point rather than a compromise. Three prices from three companies in the same square mile is not a market; it is whoever happens to be nearby. Opening the job to every licensed company in the trade is what makes the lowest bid mean something.
What does change with the address is drive time and scheduling, and both show up in the bid itself. Each one states the earliest the company could start and how long the price stands, so the trade-off is written down in front of you instead of discovered later.

Questions about bidding in Las Vegas
Do I need to be home for a contractor to bid?
No. Bids are written against your description of the job and the photos you upload, so nothing has to be scheduled before you have prices in front of you. If the work needs someone to look at it in person, that happens after you have chosen a company — not as the price of finding out what it costs.
Are the contractors licensed to work in Las Vegas?
Contractor licences in Nevada are issued by the state, so a licence is checked against the Nevada State Contractors Board rather than against a city. Every bidding company’s licence is checked, and its classification and status are shown on its company profile. How we verify sets out what that check covers.
Will companies from outside Las Vegas bid on my job?
Usually, yes. The Las Vegas valley is one labour market, and a company twenty minutes away holds exactly the same state licence as one down the street. It is why a job here draws a real field rather than the two or three firms that happen to have the nearest address.
How many bids will I get?
Up to five. That is a cap rather than a target: five written bids answering the same scope is enough to see the shape of the market, and past that you are reading the same information again. It also keeps bidding worth a company’s time, which is what keeps the bids considered rather than thrown out.
How long does a bid stay valid?
Each bid states its own terms — the earliest the company could start, and the date the price lapses. You read that before you accept it, so there is no version of this where the number is only good if you sign tonight.
